They honestly should have traded players and got picks last season after the Kirk injury. They again let another one of their players go that had value for nothing. Its always been one of my complaints about my favorite team. They seem to hold on to players too long and get themselves in salary cap trouble or extend them into trouble. If they were truly identifying this draft class for a franchise QB they should have been gearing themselves up for it with picks. One can say Kwesi did a good job getting that 23rd pick with Houston but then you find out Kwesi didn't contact them. They contacted Kwesi so that leads me to think what was Kwesi's plan? Sit at home and hope someone calls?
I agree with the point that we should have strategically made a few moves to tank (without telling players we are tanking obviously).... such as trade Hunter, put Jefferson on season ending IR, maybe another player or 2 on sudden season ending IR (exaggerating their "injuries" publicly)...... if we took that strategy, we could've potentially ended up with a top 5 pick instead of #11.....
However.... you're right about not having many players to trade..... I just don't think many teams wanted many of our players via trade..... we overvalue our players.....
To answer your question.... I suppose Harrison Smith maybe to a contender who may have an injury at safety? Or LB Hicks maybe? Even them two are a stretch.... no teams will be lining up offering a lot for them..... and definitely not Osborn based on how he played this past season..... so yeah, as far as trade deadline.... Hunter was the big one and to some degree (based on name recognition if nothing else) Harrison Smith......
