Dang, was really hoping we could bring him back.
Time to let the kids play I guess.
Time to let the kids play I guess.
Yep. I wanted him back as well.
It's definitely risky not bringing him back. You're counting on Fenton taking a huge step as the full time slot corner and Keyes, Baker and Hughes living up to their potential. There's basically no proven depth now.
it's obvious KC is over him.
1 year 4 mil. Damn. I really really really wanted him back.
He was too proud to take what we offered, and it's highly likely we offered more than Minny are going to pay him.
Type of guy who'd cut off his nose to spite his face.

The Chiefs move on...
Going from Mahomes to Kirk Cousins
At least he won’t have to worry much about the playoffs

Would have liked Breeland for another year, but Coach Steve Spagnuolo, Coach Dave Merritt and Coach Sam Madison will make L'Jarius Sneed, Charvarius Ward, Deandre Baker, Rashad Fenton, Mike Hughes, and Thakarius Keyes into a good CB unit.
Sounds like we moved on from him, not the other way around.
Gonna miss watching him play. He was like the anti-Peters. Dude just loved hitting people.
He did not back off or shy away from contact at all.
Awe man, it’s even worse that he didn’t want to leave. Wish he had told KC to fist themselves in his Tweet so I could hate him.
**** THIS ASSHOLE!!!
This has been our biggest loss of the offseason by a stretch. The other guys were broke dicks or averages. Breeland was a really good player for us. Baker and Huges must be looking alright.
Didn't patrick peterson sign with the vikings earlier this year?
wouldn't be shocked if badger tries to join them
hopefully we pay him though

These guys should try visiting Minneapolis in the winter before they sign
Considering what he signed for, we absolutely could have had him if we felt we needed him. Have to trust the staff on this one.
Maybe some other move is coming soon.

seems like the Chiefs didnt make him a priority...
we know if Veech wants to keep someone he makes it happen. .
Breeland was big for us...good luck in Minny

Damn this is a loss we will be fine but it would have been nice to have the vet and sure tackler out there. The most physical corner we have had since Kevin Ross.
Well I guess James Hasty was pretty physical.
Well I guess James Hasty was pretty physical.
I thought he would test the waters but eventually resign with us. I'm a little disappointed but trust Veach.
His play declined last year he might have 2 more good years not worth a multiple year contract and theres a reason 3 teams have now signed him to short term deals.
A little nervous about this one. CBs already looked a little thin and I'm not sure what we have replicates the physicality of Breeland. Hopefully Baker or Williams end up working out.
PFF (dismissive wank, but still) had him as the #57 corner last year.
Between our lack of cap space and other potential replacements (Baker, Hughes, Keyes), I’m good with not bringing him back.

Always remember that clutch play in New England. Hope he does well!
A couple of things on Breeland. He was a physical corner & one of the better options on the market for KC’s style at the time in 19. But leading the defense in penalties with 25 called against him in 2 seasons not ideal. Athletic cliff is near as well. Hence 4x 1-year deals.

Will not miss him and all his penalties.
Good luck out there Breeland!
Good and fair deal for the Vikings. I can see us being okay with Fenton, Sneed, Ward at their current price and wanting to use the money elsewhere.
Good for him. I am sad to see him go. Thanks for helping us win a super bowl.
Bad news: We lost a solid corner
Good news: Our amount of DPI penalties will plummet

solid CB, who will get hit with a few DPIs but will make enough plays to not be angry about it
He was definitely solid for us for 2 seasons. He’s grabby though, which is fine. But I feel like once the spotlight is on a player for something, the refs really try to look for it. So that part is annoying. He’s a value added though!
Wasn't our best corner last year but very solid, underrated even. Makes big plays every once and awhile. One caviat, he has a VERY physical playstyle which causes him to draw a noticeable amount of penalties, but he might change that in your system who knows.
Good player. He’s a bit grabby but he plays really hard. At worst he’ll be a bit below average but you’ll probably get quality play out of him
He'll be great especially with Patrick Peterson most likely taking number 1s.
Average CB. The ups come with the downs for Breeland. He can play man and zone coverage.
Solid player.
Much love to anyone that has helped us on this back to back super bowl trip run. His goodbye was gracious and nice to hear as well on social media.
Really hope the best for him in Minnesota.

Ah poop. I didn’t expect him to come back but it still sucks to see it be official
Fuckkkkk, good luck breeland
Breeland was a clutch corner for us at many of the right times, but he was a flag magnet too. I'll miss his talent on the team, but I won't miss all the penalties.
Well, damn.
Hope he has fun with that lol
We have a young CB room of Sneed, Ward, and Fenton. With cap space be being tight it just made Breeland extendable with our young CBs.
My bet is that he wanted a multiyear deal and the Chiefs said no because we wanted to develop our young but solid cornerback group. We most likely did make an offer, but when rejected we traded for Hughes is my bet.
No idea. Sounds like Breeland holds the chiefs in high regard still. Maybe KC just left it open ended knowing he’d find something out there. Their plans were probably to move on and this way it let Breeland kinda figure out his next move on his own.
Good pick up for Vikes.
I think we should replace both of them! Sneed and Baker on the outside. Fenton on the inside. TM as a robber and Juan on top. Bring dirty dan in with dime packages and i think we will be fine.
Damn
wow sorry, for possibly some decent reasons now, we didnt sign him. still thats same $$$ we're paying Wylie. and twice what we'll pay LDT who will end the year on the bench if/when Smith works his way into the lineup for good.
I'd swap you Breezy for Wylie (or Niemann) so fast it'd make your head spin.

Man Breezy has had some tough luck timing. His off the field stuff isn’t violent or the awful stuff that some players (and coaches) get involved in. I’m glad he was able to help bring a SB to KC and continue to wish him the best. The shoulder thing does make me feel better about KC not bringing him back, as he was a value contract and a good scheme fit here.
Perhaps the contract is incentive based on how many holding penalties Breeland doesn't get.
I like Breeland but his off-field drama was getting a little tiresome to me. I would bet that he will be suspended for the first 2-4 game which will also give him some time to heal from his shoulder surgery.
At those numbers, I'm very surprised the Chiefs didn't bring Breeland back.
He had shoulder surgery, which I guess is news to all of us. Keep in mind that he only went to GB and then KC because he failed his physical with Carolina. His contract is very clearly built for injury/suspension risk.
I kinda feel bad for the guy, but he's still multimillionaire so I don't feel THAT bad. I'd rather roll the dice with our young guys and see if any have starting potential. We already have a lot of proven talent in our secondary so it's not too risky to roll either baker or hughes.
